It's a phenomenal fact that whatever you do, say or become, there will always be people that have the most negative things to say about you, but I'm just here to remind you to pay no mind to it and DO YOU.
We have all been in those situations am sure whereby the words people taint on us end up haunting us the most, I remember in high school for me it was the worst experience!
When I think of it at times I even shake my head like WOW people are inconsiderate!
With having something to say about me almost entirely all the time it was then that I chose to rise above people's opinions. I can allude. that up until now I am a living testimony of that ideology set strongly in my strands of beliefs that “If the person does not matter to me & their opinion of no substance to build me then their opinion is irrelevant”
I remember this one time when I won academic awards, some people began to say:
”Oh no she couldn't have done that, she's too dumb”
(Please translate it in Shona & Ndebele if you're Zimbabwean) for emphasis sake!
I actually laughed and thought to myself: Some people don't ever want to see you do better than them, in fact they never want to see you do any good.
But hey guess what? Not to brag (which I am doing) 😂
I won an overall award for my Lower 6th stream and bagged another one for being the best at a subject I loved dearly! (Literature)
I owned my achievements gracefully, twirling and smiling while I collected my awards and prizes while my mother ululated and shouted my totem " Mwenewazvo" - Not to mention again while the woodpeckers looked on in disbelief!
Point is:
Use what they do to you and say to you as motivation as well as the fuel you may need at times to better yourself. Be so caught up with yourself so much that you begin to see the irrelevance of the “Noise “people make! But always remember not to prove any point to them but to do it for you. Motivate yourself daily, push yourself and constantly work on unlocking that amazing being that you really are.
Let it be your everyday duty to seek to better yourself even in the smallest of areas!
I mean like my favorite author Oscar Wilde says:
“To love oneself is a life long journey of true romance”
Know your worth and your capabilities to do amazing things and never let anybody bring you down! Ever!
CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS.
