Fine Girl from Zambia

Breaking boundaries and stepping out of your comfort zone is rarely easy but at times you begin to realize it is necessary and quite essential as it brings forth more lessons and revelations upon yourself.

The purpose of this new edition is to break my own boundaries and besides that - venture on a journey of exploring and basically knowing other people more through means of their stories because like I always say "Everyone has a role to play in this world, a story necessary and a character much more relevant whether small or big"

That being said allow me to be a tad bit dramatic and welcome you guys to our first Sunday Edition of the Guest Blog, where I will present to you people that will allow me to share with you a part of their story, people that will allow me to ask them questions while they answer and people that will allow me and you of course to indulge into just a little glimpse of who they are!

Now without further ado ( Drum Rolls )

Let the show begin!

Hey! Tell us about yourself?

My name is Nchimunya Mulenga and I was born and bred in Lusaka the capital city of Zambia. I have never really lived in any other town in Zambia, so in short I am a Lusaka girl.

What do you like about your home country?

What I like about Zambia is our rich culture, the friendly people and of course the food.

It’s home and home is always home no matter where we go - we will always love our roots!

Have you ever been to any other country besides Zimbabwe?

I have lived in Johannesburg, Gauteng South Africa for 2 years from 2002 to 2004, I did my 4th grade at Wychwood Primary School.

I was going to ask you what you like about Zimbabwe LOL but I have decided to ask you more about your personality! So are you an introvert, ambivert or extrovert?

I would say am a bit of an introvert, there are times when I just want to be alone to restore myself and my energy. I am always kind of quiet and shy around people I hardly associate with and have a tendency of overthinking.

I prefer one on one interactions over large groups.

I kind of figured you were an introvert and you just confirmed it!

Anyhow if you do not mind tell us your story, why are you studying psychology? what pushed you to choose a career path that has to do with dealing with people despite you being an introvert?

Having grown up in a broken family due to the nature of how divorces go especially not in the most best way imagined, I have experienced a lot of pain that was most of the times bottled inside me. I have also seen my mother as well as my sisters get traumatized because of the problems we had to endure. This is a story of many African children and families. Mostly, these people like me have no one to run to for counselling and generally just to talk to about any other psychological effect that they might have experienced. I decided to study Psychology because I want to reach out to people, to basically help people to find inner peace, I want to help people heal from brokenness, to help them be able to find solutions to their various problems and also to offer a hearing ear and helping hand.

Am sure quite a number of people can totally relate with your story, thank you for that personal bit of information and just you know I believe in you and maybe on behalf of the people who will read this We believe in you and wish you the best in these beautiful aspirations you have! Now please share with us what keeps you going in tough times?

What keeps me going is Gods faithfulness (my solid rock), the love I have for my family and not forgetting where I come from!

I always remember that tough times builds character and that’s what makes me grow as a person and that the tough times will not last forever.

NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT

Indeed I agree with you! Any favorite quotes you may like to share with us?

At the moment my favorite quote is from a gospel song by Tauren Wells called Hills and Valleys which says “ When you are on the mountain tops of life, learn to bow low and when you are in the valleys of life, learn to stand tall ”.

Many are times when we get to complain of the difficult challenges that life throws at us and we start asking God questions like " Why is he allowing it to happen to us? " Not knowing of course that God is working out things for our own good, that we are never alone and also that during our mountain tops and the valleys of life we just have to always be still and trust in Him.

“ I believe in the power of prayer ”

Well thank you very much Chichi! I had a great time conversing with you.

I hope somewhere out there someone relates to you and sees a perspective probably the same or maybe a little different from yours!

Do follow this fine girl from Zambia! & Thank you for joining us! Until next time! - which will be a week after this one - for more posts!
